Redgrave Partners LLP

Matthew Finnegan
Head of Practice, Media & Entertainment

Matthew joined Redgrave Partners in 2004, where he is a specialist consultant with extensive experience of delivering mandates across the media, entertainment, digital and communications space, focusing on management to board level hires across all functional areas. In 2007, Matthew was promoted to Head of Media Practice.

Matthew has over 12 years recruitment experience; having commenced his career working for a global recruitment business in both its London and Surrey offices; where he was consistently a leading performer in the UK.

“Following the acquisition of Hodder Headline Ltd by Hachette Livre, CEO Tim Hely Hutchinson sought to re-structure and expand the executive team managing Hachette Livre UK, the number one book Publishing Group in the UK. I was introduced to Matthew Finnegan who took the brief to find, initially two and later one more, senior managers to work in Trade Publishing, Educational Publishing and General Management (reporting to the CEO’s office). Matthew was impressive in his swift grasp of the business and our requirements.

Shortlists emerged quickly, interviews were arranged efficiently and intelligently, feedback from candidates and communication with interviewing staff was meticulous. Three candidates were appointed and all have since been successful in their roles. Two have recently been promoted to divisional FD and a divisional MD. Matthew’s role and that of his organisation were key in this necessarily swift and smooth structure of a management team equipped to run and further grow Hachette Livre UK.”

Convergence is an exciting and increasingly prevalent theme in the media market. Traditional media owners are pursuing a multitude of distribution channels, with an ever-increasing emphasis on digital media distribution. The crucial challenge is delivering revenue from this content. In the agency arena, the major communications groups are continuing to grow and meet the challenges created by the digital age. This has provided the impetus for numerous start-ups, driven by proven business leaders and new market entrants alike.

With new businesses and opportunities constantly emerging, the demand for talent is rising sharply. Redgrave Partners has a successful track record of delivering projects for clients ranging from FTSE 100 and US-listed multinationals to independents, private equity-backed businesses and AIM-listed companies.

We specialise in senior appointments in all the key areas – Media (including Film, Information Services, TV, Radio, Publishing, and Music), Entertainment (including Sport, Home Video, Computer Games), Digital (including Content Providers, Mobile, Social Media and Digital Agencies) and Communications (including Advertising, Branding, Direct Marketing, Market Research, Media Agencies, Outdoor Specialists and PR).

Most of our projects involve identifying, tracking and attracting management to Board-level executives in the £80,000 to £250,000+ salary bracket. Our functional specialisms span General Management, Finance, Strategy, Corporate Development, Sales, Marketing, Commercial, Information Technology, Human Resources, Creative, Legal and Interim.
